This is the cover page for Ivan Balenovic book "Prince Humorabi of Plusopotamy". It is in fact, the cover page, chin and back side of the book (therefore gaps in composition for titles and description text).
On the cover page are Humorabi, Urma and Tasel, three young heroes travelling the imaginary pseudo-world of the Middle East, meeting strange lands (and their kings!)
The book is considered children-book, therefore a warm and colourful style. Prince's name Humorabi is an allusion - but opposite to - Hammurabi, the Persian ruler. It is the author's allusion also to the Humor rabbi, the Teacher of Humor (brightness of life), so therefore his shiny smile.
The world they are coming through is not a standard orc-elf universe, but lands of strange kings and kingdoms (strange in their customs but also in appearance).
On the cover page, they are running through the Valley of Kings, a swamp where thrown rulers of the kingdom are fighting between themselves in envy and anger. The guy after our fellowship is Skrgutin, their "leader" (they have no leader, they are an anarchist mob) with a stone crown.
It was Photoshop (total paint over scanned line drawing), about 40 hours of work.
I also did 10 inside illustrations of the book.
